WASTE AWAY
An interactive show about Rubbish Reduction and Litter Prevention
Learning all about the implications of dropping litter and the need to reduce,
reuse and recycle rubbish through puppets, songs, stories and magic
The action starts with issues about reusing and reducing rubbish.
Adrian sings the ‘Reduce and Reuse’ song – an original song that highlights these important aspects.
Dustin the talking dustbin draws attention to the importance of recycling rubbish. With the help of the children he sorts his contents into different categories for recycling – metals, glass, paper, plastic, Charity sales items and organic.
What happens to organic waste is explained using the ‘Rotting Pepper’ puppet show and the ‘Magic Composter’ (a variation on a traditional magic trick.)
The ‘Reduce and Reuse’ song is then sung in the extended ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’ version.
Finally, litter prevention and the hazards of litter are tackled in an original puppet show – ‘Park Refuse’ which includes a man’s project to fly a spaceship to a cleaner planet and a school pupil’s project to clean up his local park with the help of a recycling robot!
A sheet of possible follow up discussion points for the classroom is provided.
