SEED TO PLANT

Learning all about seeds and plants through puppets, songs, story and magic!

The children help Adrian with the job of planting seeds although magic is used to speed up the process as a flower grows before their eyes! The various parts of the flower are identified.
‘Sunny’ the talking Sunflower offers help on how to grow plants with the  ‘Growing Plants’ song (an original song that goes through the important aspects of planting a seed and growing a plant) and the Tomato Plant Chart.
The various stages of a broad bean seed growing into a plant are explained and demonstrated by Sgt Plot in the Plant Pot Cadets Puppet Show and the original song ‘Root to Fruit.’
Finally the traditional story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ is performed as a puppet show. The children  are invited to help Jack with their knowledge of growing seeds to grow the magic beanstalk. The giant’s maid would love to work outside in the garden growing plants instead of working inside cooking and cleaning for the giant. She tries to teach the giant a bit about growing plants.

A wonderful experience for the pupils and something really different to support their Science work. It was a very interactive programme that followed the Key Stage One Science curriculum and augmented what we were doing in a really fun way. The show was very visual and the children were still talking about it the following week. They loved Sunny Sunflower!
Jenny Earp, Headteacher, Coleshill Infant School, Bucks

“Thank you very much for the excellent show ‘Seed to Plant’. It fitted into our science week activities wonderfully and was very informative. The repetition of facts and reinforcement of learning was very skilfully presented by the various scene changes and assorted puppet characters. All the children were focused, participating and importantly, enjoying their learning. Sunny the talking sunflower was a firm favourite with the children but they all talked about Jack and the Beanstalk. Feedback from the staff was very positive and I’m happy to recommend Seed to Plant to colleagues in other schools.”
Clare Critchley, Headteacher, Fritwell Primary School, Oxfordshire
