FEEL THE FORCE

A show to support the  topics of ‘Pushes and Pulls’  and
‘Forces and Movement’ using puppets, toys, traditional and original stories, song and magic.

With the help of a miniature skate board, Adrian shows how different pushes and pulls effect speed and direction.

Adrian is organising a party. Everything he tries to sort out seems to involve forces of some kind – push, pull, slide, stretch, squeeze, squash when opening the different bottles and sweet boxes, performing a magic trick, doing a puppet show and making up the party bags. Even the party games involve forces both by people and in the natural world.
In the ‘Sloping Off’ puppet show, Ronnie is having trouble keeping his vehicle up a slope.
Junx helps explain about gravity and friction and Ronnie tries to find out how far the vehicle travels after coming down different inclines.

Adrian sings the ‘Feel the Force’ song – an original song that highlights the aspects of pushes and pulls, friction and gravity covered in the show.

Finally an extended version of the traditional story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’ is performed as a puppet show. The turnip isn’t the only thing that needs pushing or pulling. There are such things as the farmhouse door, the garden rake, the broom, the dog’s lead and the cat’s toy. A sheet of possible follow up discussion points for the classroom is provided.

“The children were truly captivated by Adrian's engaging performance in which he presented the concept of forces in an original and entertaining way. The children loved the catchy 'Feel the Force' song and were very amused by the antics of Ronnie and Junx’s truck. A delightful way to reinforce scientific concepts for KS1 pupils”.
