DARE TO CARE

A show to support 'Every Child Matters' Outcome 4: Make a positive contribution.
The show uses puppets and magic, an original story based on a traditional one and an original song.

Dennis is good at boasting and telling lies. This lands him in serious trouble until a Magical Green Man comes to help him out. However there are consequences to the Green Man's actions and Dennis embarks on an adventure out of the puppet theatre into human's world to discover the Green Man's name. On the way he finds out how his behaviour affects himself, others and the environment. Respect and Care for yourself, others and the environment are the key aspects in the show used to consider how to 'engage in decision making to support the environment, engage in positive behaviour, develop positive relationships and develop enterprising behaviour' - Every Child Matters Outcome 4. The show finishes with 'Litter in the Park' when litter prevention and the hazards of litter are tackled in an original puppet show. This includes a man's project to fly a spaceship to a cleaner planet and Dennis's project to clean up his local park for all to enjoy.
A sheet of possible follow up discussion points for the classroom is provided.
