ANIMAL ALERT!
A show to support the ‘Ourselves,’ ’Health and Growth’
and ‘Staying Safe’ Topics through traditional and original animal stories
and songs using puppets,
music and magic!

With the help of photos and various things, Adrian highlights growing and changing in humans and animals and the benefits of exercise and healthy eating for both.
The original song ‘Look after Yourself’, then emphasises aspects of personal health and safety.
The traditional story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ is presented as a puppet show and covers aspects of ‘Be Healthy’ and ‘Stay Safe’ as well identifying differences in various animals. Disco dancing Granny injures her back, Red Riding Hood gets confused with all the various wild animals when trying to identify the big bad wolf, the wolf tempts Red Riding Hood to try Granny’s medicine and the policeman tells Red Riding Hood about Stranger Danger.
A magical trip to the zoo encourages the children to identify different zoo animals and the food they need to keep healthy. Mickey the monkey has escaped from the monkey house and the children look through the different cages to help find him. Eventually Mickey is found and returns to his cage by magic. This is a traditional children’s magic trick with an updated approach.
The original story, ‘Well Well’ is presented as a puppet show and covers aspects of the need to drink water for humans and animals as well as the importance of co-operative and caring attitudes and actions in any community.

The well used by the villagers dries up because the selfish, greedy factory boss in the village is secretly using the well water for his illegal Shampoo production. Gretal uses the well to provide water for the wildlife. When it dries up and there are strange things happening, she discovers why and devises a plan to ensure the supply of water is returned to the villagers and wildlife.
The show finishes with an original song about healthy eating and drinking.

A sheet of possible follow up discussion points for the classroom is provided.

‘‘Excellent show and it fitted in perfectly with our topic. Just the right level – really engaging for the pupils and kept them focussed.’’
